2012 Pitch Counts
- If a player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest must be observed.
- If a player pitches 51 - 65 pitches in a day, three (3) calendar days of rest must be observed.
- If a player pitches 36 - 50 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar days of rest must be observed.
- If a player pitches 21 - 35 pitches in a day, one (1) calendar day of rest must be observed.
- If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, no (0) calendar day of rest is required.
- After a pitcher throws 41 pitches, he may not play as catcher for that game!!!
- A catcher cannot pitch in that game if they have caught for 4 or more innings!
11-12yrs old, 85 pitches MAX - 13-14yrs old, 95 pitches MAX
T-Ball Local Rules
Apache Junction Little league T-Ball division will follow the 2012 Official Little League Rule Book with the following addendums:
1) This is an INSTRUCTIONAL DIVISION and there is no official scorekeeping.
2) Batter gets a maximum of 5 swings, after 4, the coach can assist the player with the 5th swing.
3) Only 3 Managers/Coaches may be allowed on the field at any time (3 for offensive and 3 for defensive). One AJLL approved coach will remain in the dugout at all times.
4) No new innings after 6:20pm and all play will cease by 6:30pm.
5) Coaches must bat entire lineup.
6) The infield will have 6 players, the rest will be in the outfield.
7) There is no stealing or lead off.
8) No huddling outside the dugout. This includes no players in the dugout doorways.
9) No player will hold a bat in the dugout.
10) Throughout the season each child will get the opportunity to play the infield and outfield.
Rookie League Local Rules
Apache Junction Little League Rookie division will follow the 2012 Official Little League Rule Book with the following addendums:
1. Each team will have no more than 12 players unless approved by AJ Board.
2. A Minimum of 8 players is required to play a game. There will be no more than a 10 minute waiting period past the scheduled time before the game will be declared a forfeit in favor of the team with required amount of players to begin the game. Only players on the official roster can play.
3. Game times are an 1:30 with a drop dead time of 1:45 or 6 innings what ever comes first (Time limits will be adhered to. Games not completed in 1:45 will end at that time. The winning team will be determined by the score of the last completed inning). Any managers intentionally trying to stall a game will result in his teams forfeit of that game.
4. All players present will be included in the batting order. The batting order is to remain the same for the entire game. A player may be removed from the batting order if the player leaves or is hurt. If a player arrives late they will be added to the bottom of the order. If a player must leave a game for any reason, the coach will notify the other team and that players spot will be skipped in the order. Each team will have to keep a scorebook. Coaches will be required to exchange batting lineups (complete with jersey #’s) prior to game time. Batting out of order will result in the batter being out.
5. The Home team will keep the official score. At the end of the game the visiting manager will sign off on the score sheet to verify the score is correct. Managers must sign the official scorebook immediately following game verifying the game score, pitchers used, and number of pitches. Failure to do this will result in a max pitch count for all pitchers and a loss for the team.
6. On defense you can play 10 with a minimum of 8. (4 outfielders and 6 infielders)
7. No Player can sit out for consecutive innings. All players must start at least every other game.
8. All players must play in the infield by the third inning for each game. All
players should be rotated through the bench. Players may only be benched for one inning at a time. If a player sits out one inning, he must play the next. A partial inning does not count as a full inning. A player should not sit out more than 1 inning defensively per game.
9. Any runner is out when the runner slides head first into a base moving forward. This rule does not apply when returning to a base.
10. The offense is retired when 3 outs are recorded or 5 runs have scored per inning.
11. There is no infield fly rule.
12. There are no intentional walks.
13. There is no “batting circle”. The on deck batter may take practice swings on the way to the plate only. There is no handling of bats until a player is coming to the plate. Batting donuts and sleeves are illegal in Little League.
14. The distance from home to the pitching rubber will be 35 feet.
15. Pitchers will be limited to 50 pitches per game. Exception: If a pitcher
reaches the limit for his/her league age while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until any one of the following conditions occurs:
1. That batter reaches base
2. That batter is put out
If a player pitches 36 - 50 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar days of rest must be observed.
• If a player pitches 21 - 35 pitches in a day, one (1) calendar days of rest must be observed.
• If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, no(0) calendar day of rest is required.
16. If a pitcher pitches more than 41 pitches he/she cannot play the catcher position.
17. No breaking pitches of any kind are allowed.
18. The pitcher must start his windup from the pitching rubber on the flat surface.
19. FEB: After a count of 4 balls, the offensive manager or coach will pitch
until 3 strikes are recorded ( player pitched strikes are included in this count). The batter will either hit or strikeout – there are no walks
20. April 24th: No managers or coaches pitch. A player will walk on 4 balls.
21. May 12th: Base stealing is allowed per LL regulations. No players may “lead off”.
22. Managers and coaches may coach both first and third as long as there is a Board approved volunteer in the dugout / players area and must have a back-round check also.
23. Games will not have umpires provided. The defensive manager shall call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher, and the offensive manager shall call plays at the bases. Only for end of season tournament will umps be provided.
24. Players MUST NOT wear watches, rings, pins or jewelry of any kind.(Exception: Medical items and league awarded pins)
25. Catchers must wear a protective cup.
Minor League Local Rules (Baseball and Softball
Apache Junction Little league Minor division will follow the 2012 Official Little League Rule Book with the following addendums:
1) An AJLL approved manager/coach must be in the dugout
at all times and not sitting on a bucket due to player safety. No players
allowed in the dugout doorway.
2) Manager must sign the FIELD INSPECTION LOG immediately after each
game with the umpire. This provides pitch count for that night. Failure to do so will automatically put your pitchers at maximum pitch count.
3) No new innings after 1:45 . Inning in progress will be completed, if the inning ends in a tie then the game will be recorded as a tie.
4) Players may steal or lead off only after the ball passes the batter.
5) 5 run rule for minors is in effect per inning. The game will be called if a team is down 10 runs or more upon the completion of the fourth inning.
6) Pitcher hits 2 batters in same inning or 3 batters in a game he/she must be removed as pitcher for that game.
7) Base coaches WILL stay in the coach boxes at all times and not approach the batter while the ball is live. Coaches not in box will be considered delay of game and penalized accordingly.
8) Managers only will conduct plate meetings with the umpire with their lineup cards ready.
9) Be sure the dugout is completely free of debris and equipment after each
game.
10) No handling of bats while in the dugout by players.
11) No huddling in between innings outside the dugout.
12) All catchers must wear cups and dangling throat guards.
13) There is no ON DECK Circle.
14) One minute or 7 pitches will be used in between innings to warm up pitcher. Managers/coaches will be allowed to help warm up pitcher on the mound.
15) All players will bat in a continuous batting order and play 6 consecutive
outs on defense.
16) Manager is responsible for his/her pitch count. Official scorekeeper assigned by AJLL will have official pitch count. Scorekeeper will inform umpire of final pitch for pitcher and umpire will notify both managers.
Home team responsible for official scorebook unless determined by both managers and umpires.
17) All warm ups will be complete by 5 minutes prior to game start.
Umpire will issue the home team the game ball to start pitching warm ups.
18) Manager’s/Umpire meeting will occur 5 minutes to game time. Ground
rules, lineup cards, and game balls will be issued at this time.
19) Managers only may visit with the umpire and only upon being GRANTED
TIME by the umpire.
20) Managers are responsible for their coaches, players and fans and thereby will be the first to be tossed from the game if any of them get out of hand.
Major League Local Rules (Baseball and Softball)

(b) Little League (Majors)/Junior/Senior/Big
League -
(1) a third strike is legally caught by the catcher;
(2) a third strike is not caught by the catcher when first base is occupied before two are out.
Junior League Local Rules (Baseball and Softball)
Apache Junction Little league Junior division will follow the 2012 Official Little League Rule Book with the following addendums:
1) An AJLL approved manager/coach must be in the dugout at all times and not sitting on a bucket due to player safety. No kids allowing in the dugout doorway.
2) Manager must sign the FIELD INSPECTION LOG immediately after each game with the umpire. This provides pitch count for that night. Failure to do so will automatically put your pitchers at maximum pitch count.
3) No new innings after 2 hours 30 minutes on week night, Saturday will play complete 7 inning game.
4) Base coaches WILL stay in the coach boxes at all times and not approach the batter while the ball is live. Coach’s not in box will be considered delay of game and penalized accordingly.
5) Be sure the dugout is completely free of debris and equipment after each game.
6) No handling of bats while in the dugout by kids.
7) No huddling in between innings outside the dugout.
